Economic and legal aspects of social entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic

The master’s thesis focuses on the economic and legislative aspects of social entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic. The work defines the basic theoretical basis for social entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic, describes the relationship of disabled persons to the labor market, and outlines the benefits connected to employing individuals with disabilities. The thesis further investigates the current situation in a specific sheltered workshop that is planning to expand its capacity. The conclusion of the thesis presents an evaluation of the advantages/profitability of such a project, summarizes the possible risks of entrepreneurship in the protected labor market, and offers suggested measures for the continuation of the sheltered workshop.

The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of social entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic. The main purpose is to identify its economic and legal barriers. In order to fulfil the set goal, the theoretical part will define the context of social economy and social entrepreneurship. The practical part will evaluate the current situation of social entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic by means of a directory of social enterprises and an interview with a social enterprise. The final part of the thesis will contain a proposal of legislation for the employment of people with dis-abilities.
Social Enterprise-Centered Varieties of Capitalism: How does the variant of capitalism impact the social enterprise sector?

Sociální podniky představují způsob, jak využít již existující instituce a trhy k řešení sociálních potřeb, které nejsou dostatečně pokryty soukromým sektorem nebo státem. Sociální problémy, které se snaží řešit, jejich institucionální rámec a trhy na kterých operují jsou jedinečné v rámci svého národního nebo dokonce regionálního kontextu. To vytváří problémy s rozšiřováním a implementací úspěšných modelů do nových komunit. Tato diplomová práce definuje tyto institucionální kontexty pomocí teoretického rámce odvozeného z literatury o Modelech kapitalismu na základě srovnání ukazatelů ekonomické koordinace a vládní intervence v různých zemích. Pomocí regresních technik nejmenších čtverců na průřezovém souboru dat ze 49 zemí byly posuzovány následující tři výzkumné otázky. Zaprvé, má model kapitalismu vliv na sektor sociálních podniků? Za druhé, mají cílené snahy zaměřené na podporu podnikání vedlejší účinky, které prospívají sociálnímu podnikání? Za třetí, poskytují společnosti ve kterých převládají postmaterialistické hodnoty příznivější prostředí pro rozvoj sociálních podniků? Support of the Sharing Economy in France and Germany.

The Sharing Economy represents a rapidly growing sector in the global economy, with companies such as Foodsharing and Blablacar becoming household names from Germany and France. This growth has been driven by entrepreneurs who have seen opportunities to leverage technology to create value for customers, while also transforming traditional business models. However, despite the potential of these companies to drive sustainable consumption and reduce waste, they face significant challenges in terms of regulation, funding, and support infrastructure. This master thesis aims to explore the support available to founders of Sharing Economy companies in France and Germany. This thesis will examine the regulatory frameworks, funding opportunities, support instances, and challenges that impact the founding process of Sharing Economy startups.
The issue of employment of people with mental disabilities in the labour market

This bachelor's thesis delves into the intricacies surrounding the employment of persons with intellectual disabilities within the labuor market. The primary objective of this academic endeavor is to discern the factors influencing the integration of persons with intellectual disabilities into the workforce. To achieve this objective, a method of qualitative analysis through structured interviews was employed, facilitating an in-depth comprehension of the experiences and challenges faced by these persons in their pursuit of employment. The technique of open coding was applied for the analysis of the collected data. The research cohort consisted of randomly selected persons over the age of 18 from the Central Bohemian Region. This group comprised five communication partners with intellectual disabilities and one representative communication partner, acting on behalf of an organization devoted to addressing the issue of employing individuals with intellectual disabilities. Among this cohort, three women and three men were represented. Research findings underscored that persons with intellectual disabilities prioritize employment over their leisure time. Furthermore, it was ascertained that these persons possess a keen awareness of their strengths, which they can contribute to the labour market. The outcomes of this bachelor's thesis contribute significantly to a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with employing persons with intellectual disabilities. Simultaneously, they offer substantial evaluative value to individual institutions and organizations dedicated to addressing the matter of integrating persons with intellectual disabilities into the labour market. The acquired data also holds potential as a valuable resource for social workers engaged in addressing this specific issue.
Social Entrepreneurship as Socially Responsible and Sustainable Business

The thesis focuses on comparing the concept of social entrepreneurship with the concepts of corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The theoretical part describes the civil sector, social economy, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility and sustainability. In the empirical part, the principles and indicators of social entrepreneurship are compared with European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Subsequently, the topics and areas of these standards are identified through thematic analysis of specific activities of three selected social enterprises. The research aims to determine whether, and if so, how, the activities of social enterprises correspond with the principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainability according to ESRS. The results of the research show that the analysed social enterprises in all thematic areas of the environmental, social and economic pillars meet the social responsibility and sustainability criteria through their activities.
Social work and personnel management tools in the employment of people with disabilities in work integration social enterprise

The aim of the diploma thesis is to acquaint with the area of employment of persons with disabilities in a work integration social enterprise. This goal was achieved by studying professional literature, related legislation, realized studies and researches and other sources with follow-up qualitative research. The entire thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The basis for the theoretical part is the analysis of the above-mentioned professional literature and other related sources. This part is divided into seven chapters, which will introduce us the topic and define basic terms - needs, definition of disability, methods of social work, comprehensive system of rehabilitation, employment of persons with disabilities, social entrepreneurship and specific conditions for employment of persons with disabilities. The practical part is processed using the method of qualitative research, which aim is to find out which personnel management tools and which methods of social work are used in work integration social enterprises employing people with disabilities and also to analyze what role and function these enterprises have in a comprehensive system of rehabilitation with emphasizing his social and work components. To achieve these goals, three research questions are set. These questions are intended to clarify the specific personnel management tools and social work methods used in practice, their influence and the influence of employment in a work integration social enterprise on the further work and social integration of persons with disabilities, as well as what role and function have these enterprises in a comprehensive system of rehabilitation from the point of view of individual transitional and follow-up tools for the work integration of disadvantaged persons.
Therapeutic character of social agriculture

The aim of the thesis is to describe the therapeutic character of social farming. Social farming is a relatively new and dynamic field of the social economy. The thesis examines the therapeutic nature of social farms in terms of meeting human needs. It is a type of social entrepreneurship, the therapeutic aspects of which will be explored in a selected social farm through a case study. The aim of the thesis is to describe the effects that social farming has on its clients from a therapeutic point of view. The theoretical part presents a basis for describing the relationship between human and nature, that has positive psychological effects on human mental health. It also opens up concepts such as Green care, animal-assisted therapy, horticultural therapy, multifunctional agriculture and other. The empirical part explores life on a specific farm in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on the clients themselves who are employees of the social entrepreneurship through the lens of the therapeutic aspect of particular social farm.
